This event is being held at the InterContinental Hotel Cleveland, on the Cleveland Clinic campus. The IBD symposium immediately precedes the 2019 Annual Scientific Meeting of the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons, which occurs June 1-5 at Cleveland’s Huntington Convention Center.

The comprehensiveness of this course is what sets it apart, says Scott R. Steele, MD, MBA, Chair of Cleveland Clinic’s Department of Colorectal Surgery. “The IBD Master Class presents world-renowned thought-leaders in medicine and surgery in one meeting, talking about the current and future care of IBD patients,” says Dr. Steele.

An all-encompassing event for IBD

The one-day IBD CME event boasts an extraordinarily diverse lineup of course offerings meant to satisfy the information needs of a range of attendees who care for IBD patients, from colorectal surgeons and gastroenterologists to mid-level providers, nurses, residents and medical students.

“It’s absolutely a one-stop shop for everything you want to know about IBD, from the straightforward to the cutting-edge to the controversial,” says Dr. Steele, the course’s co-director, along with Cleveland Clinic IBD Section Chief Tracy Hull, MD, and Stefan D. Holubar MD, Director of Cleveland Clinic’s IBD Multidisciplinary Team Conference and Surgical Research.

“We know that care for IBD patients is multidisciplinary,” Dr. Steele says. “There are medical and surgical issues that involve not only the treatment itself, but the strategy for treatment, and how each approach influences the other.
