Reassuring Results from the Multinational ICD Sports Registry (Video)

When long-term results from the Multinational ICD Sports Registry were presented at the Heart Rhythm Society’s scientific sessions this spring, they provided reassurance that it can be safe for some patients with implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) to participate in sports.

In this three-and-a-half-minute video, the registry’s lead investigator, Elizabeth (Tess) Saarel, MD, Chair of Pediatric Cardiology at Cleveland Clinic Children’s, shares highlights from the registry study. She’s also joined by co-investigator Bruce Wilkoff, MD, Cleveland Clinic’s Director of Cardiac Pacing and Tachyarrhythmia Devices, to discuss how the findings can inform clinicians’ conversation with young athletes who need ICDs.
