Fertility preservation is a concern for many women requiring pelvic radiation cancer treatment.
Ovarian transposition is one surgical approach that can help preserve a woman’s reproductive capacity. It minimizes radiation damage to the ovaries without having to remove them and can be performed laparoscopically or via laparotomy.
In this video, watch Cleveland Clinic surgeons perform laparoscopic ovarian transposition on a 29-year-old woman diagnosed with rectal cancer.
Physicians from Cleveland Clinic’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology will present on ovarian transposition at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ARM) 2016 Scientific Congress & Expo in Salt Lake City, Utah.
