Eric Klein, MD, Chairman of the Glickman Urological & Kidney Institute, says that Dr. Heyka was selected after an exhaustive national search of top candidates.

Dr. Heyka joined the staff in 1987 after completing a fellowship in Hypertension and Nephrology here. He has served as the Medical Director for the FMC/Cleveland Clinic East (Fairhill) Dialysis Center, the Director of Chronic Hemodialysis in the Department of Hypertension and Nephrology, and Chair of the Board of Directors for the FMC/Ohio Renal Care Group.

Dr. Heyka earned his medical degree from Wane State University School of Medicine in Detroit and completed an internship in internal medicine at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich. He completed a residency at Bon Secours Hospital in Grosse Pointe Park, Mich., and was Boy Frame Lecturer in Bone and Mineral Metabolism in the Department of Endocrinology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit before coming to Cleveland Clinic.
