Neonatal Nursing Conference to Highlight New Care Realities

In its 11th year, Cleveland Clinic’s annual Neonatal Nursing Conference is an insightful and highly informative event designed to educate and engage attendees, while highlighting new understanding of the neonatal intensive care environment.

The 2018 conference will take place Friday, April 27 at Cleveland Clinic’s Lerner Research Institute, and this year’s conference theme is “Realities in the NICU: Seeing the Big Picture Through a Tiny Lens.”

Conference highlights

Throughout the conference, leading nationally known experts in neonatal care from Cleveland-based Cleveland Clinic health system and University Hospitals will highlight a number of imperative neonatology topics, including:

  • Moral Dilemmas in Nursing Care
  • Nursing Strategies and Professional Boundaries with Challenging Families
  • Understanding Immunity in the NICU World and the Vaccine Controversy
  • Hydrops Fetalis: Increasing the Odds of Survival
  • Milk Protein Intolerance
  • A Glimpse into the Neonatal Brain: Seizures, EEG Interpretation and Brain Injury

The event will also include a NICU parent panel discussion on how to make a difference in nursing care.

“Packed with informative presentations and engaging discussions, the 2018 Neonatal Nursing Conference is sure to deliver nurses and other caregivers in the neonatology field added insight into caring for this delicate and remarkable patient population,” says Conference Chairperson and Neonatal Nurse Marybeth Sevastos, MSN, MBA, RN. “Without question, this year’s conference curriculum will give practitioners the knowledge and tools needed to provide enhanced care for patients and their families.”

The conference begins at 7:30 a.m. EST. The welcome address is slated for 8 a.m. and the event will conclude at 5 p.m. EST. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. The event is being held at the Lerner Research Institute at Cleveland Clinic’s main campus.
