Cleveland Clinic’s 14th Annual Nursing Research Conference: Transforming Practice Through Research & Dissemination is announcing a final call for registrations.

Sponsored by the Stanley Shalom Zielony Institute for Nursing Excellence, the highly engaging, two-day conference will be held May 2-3 in Warrensville Heights, Ohio.

Each year, Cleveland Clinic’s Annual Nursing Research Conference helps educate clinical nurses, nurse researchers, nurse educators, nurse managers and leaders, advanced practice nurses, ANCC Magnet® and Pathway to Excellence® program coordinators, and other healthcare professionals on nursing research and dissemination as an essential requirement of evidence-based nursing practice.

The 2018 conference will focus primarily on the vital role of the clinical nurse in nursing research and dissemination – specifically enhancing the ability of bedside and clinical nurses to plan, conduct and disseminate findings from important clinical studies. It will also provide numerous opportunities for nurses to network and share their research with others.

“This year, our conference is heavily focused on the role of the clinical nurse and the unique position they have within the caregiver team to identify key clinical questions that need answers,” says Sandra L. Siedlecki, PhD, RN, CNS, Cleveland Clinic Senior Nurse Scientist and Chair of the Nursing Research Conference. “As healthcare continues to change and nursing practice continues to advance and evolve, it is the nurse’s responsibility to take the lead and investigate interventions to positively impact patient experience and outcomes.”

Experience a full agenda and best-in-class expertise

Featuring expert keynote speakers, poster and oral research presentations, 12 break-out sessions (basic and advanced workshops) on factors that impact the quality and rigor of clinical research designs, this conference has something for everyone.

Throughout the two-day experience, experts will discuss the following themes:

• The role of the clinical nurse in advancing the science of nursing
• Strategies to enhance the quality and rigor of scientific inquiry
• Research design options (basic and advanced levels)
• Strategies to strengthen study designs
• Methods for disseminating findings, including tips for writing for publication

Gordon Gillespie, PhD, DNP, RN, FAEN, FAAN, Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Cincinnati is the featured keynote on the first day of the conference. His presentation topic will be on the subject of: “Creating a Clinically Meaningful Research Trajectory and Team.”

Dr. Gillespie’s research addresses traumatic stress related to workplace aggression and providing care to traumatically injured patients. He has served as chair for a national conference on workplace violence and as an editorial board member for the Advanced Emergency Nursing Journal.

Day two of the conference welcomes Denice Sheehan, PhD, RN, FPCN, Associate Professor of Nursing at Kent State University as the featured keynote. Dr. Sheehan also holds a joint position as the Director of Clinical Research at Hospice of the Western Reserve. In her remarks, Dr. Sheehan will be sharing insight on: “Improving Patient and Family Care through Collaborations among Nurse Clinicians and Nurse Scientists.”

Dr. Sheehan’s research addresses the needs of the adolescent whose parent is terminally ill. For three decades, she has contributed significantly to end-of-life care as a practitioner, educator and researcher.

Final registration for the 14th Annual Nursing Research Conference is fast approaching! Nurses interested in attending must register by April 20. Registration will not be available at the conference.

The 14th Annual Nursing Research Conference begins promptly at 8 a.m. EST and concludes at 4 p.m. EST on both Wednesday, May 2 and Thursday, May 3. Attendees can choose to attend one or both conference days.
