Cleveland Clinic’s annual Nursing Innovation Summit is a dynamic event designed to explore and highlight the many ways nursing innovation is becoming a cornerstone for improving healthcare delivery. Intended for nurse administrators (chief nursing officers, nursing directors, nurse managers), advanced practice nurses, nurse clinicians and other healthcare practitioners engaged in advancing nursing knowledge and innovative practices, the summit will offer education on the identification, development and implementation of innovations to advance patient care and propel nursing departments forward.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to share their experiences from the field and garner insight from others during dedicated ‘field sharing’ sessions.

“No matter their patient population, practice location, or scope of practice, summit participants will benefit from the detailed information and extensive expertise this event provides,” says Cleveland Clinic’s Associate Chief Nursing Officer of Research and Innovation, Nancy M. Albert, PhD, CCNS, CCRN, NE-BC, FAHA, FCCM. “Presenters will foster innovative thinking that can be directly applied to the development of new or improved nursing technologies and processes. It is especially nice when innovations can directly impact the delivery of patient care.”

Event highlights

The Nursing Innovation Summit will identify how innovative ideas differ from ideas that lead to improvement. It will also describe lessons learned by both early innovators and innovators who have recently entered the marketplace, as well as discuss how innovation can become part of the normal flow of clinical work.

Local and national experts will lead sessions and presentations on a variety of topics, including:

  • Idea innovation to integration
  • Innovation and improvement
  • The nurse as an inventor
  • Turning complaints into inventions
  • Enabling innovation in practice and academia
  • Innovation leadership
