MRI Atlas of Pituitary Pathology

With magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) the modality of choice for evaluating pituitary disorders, a basic understanding and interpretation of MRI is important for clinicians outside of the radiology field – especially endocrinologists who receive limited formal training in this area.

MRI Atlas of Pituitary Pathology is a concise review of the principles of MRI that provides a strong clinical teaching aid for endocrinologists, radiologists and neurosurgeons in training, as well as a reference guide for physicians.

The Atlas provides a visual case-based approach that reviews various pituitary pathologies. Numerous high-resolution images chronicle the most common to the rarest pituitary disorders. The book was developed as a guide for anyone involved in the multidisciplinary diagnosis of pituitary disease.

About the authors

The book was authored by Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism staff members Amir H. Hamrahian, MD, and Kevin M. Pantalone, DO, and Stephen E. Jones, MD, PhD, staff member in Diagnostic Radiology-Cardiovascular Imaging: MR CT, and former colleague Robert J. Weil, MD, FAANS, FACS.

The Cleveland Clinic Manual of Dynamic Endocrine Testing

An important part of clinical endocrinology, dynamic testing plays a critical role in clinical decision-making and is an important element of billing and compliance with high quality standards. However, evidence-based national guidelines for these tests are scarce.

The Cleveland Clinic Manual of Dynamic Endocrine Testing is an up-to-date practical guide for endocrinologists, nurses, and their staff, who perform and interpret dynamic endocrine testing in their everyday practice. It can also be a valuable resource for physicians in training.

The book was developed utilizing the best current evidence via a peer review process that included the help of experienced endocrinologists at Cleveland Clinic. The book contains a practical set of protocols for over 25 commonly used dynamic endocrine tests in pituitary and adrenal disorders, thyroid disorders, and glucose metabolism and pancreatic disorders. Most chapters follow a fairly consistent format covering indications, preparation, materials, precautions, procedure, interpretation and caveats.

About the authors

The book was conceived by Ahmet Bahadir Ergin, MD, and Amir H. Hamrahian, MD, with overview from Laurence Kennedy, MD, FRCP, Chair, Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, and Manjula K. Gupta, PhD.
